Social Interaction is the most important aspect of any social network. Users usually interact with each other via activity feed, comment or chat. The current comment section of SocialEngine is rather boring. It lacks the ability to hide/show comments, or reply to a specific comment or tag other users. All it does is allowing users to post a comment and that’s it. Advanced Comment was developed to address these issues of default comment.

Advanced Comment provides nested comments and replies to helps users communicate with each other on a matter effectively. Users can also attach link, photo and tag friend, group. The filter allows members to sort comments. Show/Hide allows members to hide offensive comments or show comments that are accidentally hidden. There are a lot more features that are waiting for you to explore.

Notice:

  • Because of the technical limitation, we do not support Advanced Comment on Default Activity Feed but on YouNet Advanced Feed System. You should upgrade your Advanced Feed System to 4.01p2 or higher to support Advanced Comment properly
  • On mobile devices, it requires Flash Player plugin to be installed to attach photos to comment on Advanced Feed.
  • Some of plugins/pages do not support Advanced Comment currently such as Photo detail page, Mp3 Music, Social Ads, Ultimate News and Wiki. These modules will be upgraded soonest except Social Ads.
  • In case of Feedback Plugin supporting Advanced Comment, it is necessary to replace Feedback Comment widget to Advanced Comment widget. After replacing,  guest/public will not be able to add a comment to feedback and all existing guests’ comments and likes will be disappeared.

Front End

  • Comment and Reply Box
    • Logged in users can write comment/reply and post it by pressing “Enter” key or pressing “Post Comment” button. It belongs to settings at Back End.
    • Allow users to attach photo to comment/reply. The attached photo can be seen in Comment Photos’ folder of Album Module.
    • Allow users to attach link to comment/reply. System will detect the link and show its content with title, description, and thumbnail. User can remove the preview and simply view the link as text only. 
    • Allow users to use emoticon to express their feeling on comments/replies as YouNet Advanced Feed System.
    • Allow users to tag their friends in the comments/replies as well as tag groups in which they are a member. Support both default Group and Advanced Group from YouNet.
    • Users can post a reply to existing comment. It supports multiple levels of replies.
  • Comment display
    • Can be fold/unfold comments on the content page.
    • Display a number of comments per page based on admin settings. Users can click on “View More Comments” to show more comment.
  • Reply display
    • At Advanced Activity Feed, which acts as 1st level comment, all replies with different levels will be displayed as one reply level.
    • At a content page such as blog, video, photo, etc…. Replies from the 3rd level onward will be shown same as 2nd level.
    • Number of replies per comment will be displayed based on admin settings.
    • Have reply popup to show the content of parent comment/reply.
  • Actions on Comment and Reply
    • Users can hide/unhide a comment/reply. 
    • Users can like/dislike comment/reply based on admin’s settings.
    • Comment/reply owners can edit/delete their posts. 
    • Users can report an insufficient comment/reply to admin.
    • Users can fold/unfold the replies of an existed comment. They can also fold/unfold the comments of a content page.
    • Allow users to vote up/vote down a comment/reply. 
  • Attractive layout of Comment and Reply. 
  • Sort on Comments: comments can be ordered by latest, oldest, most liked comments at content page.
  • Load comments and replies by ajax.
  • Support YouNet plugins and default plugins of SocialEngine. 
  • Tagging and Notification: friends who were tagged in comments/replies will receive notification updates and emails.
