Social Package Tutorial Series – Social Connect, A Time Saver Solution

we would like to introduce the second one that will help you understand Social Connect more clearly.
In this tutorial, we will introduce the following features of Social Connect plugin:
- What Social Connect is
- How it gets all information in the first time login
- Difference between standard and quick mode
- Second/next time login
- How to manage many social accounts with the same email
- Social Connect and Contact Importer integration
Let’s get started:
1. What Social Connect is
Social Connect is a tool that helps your site members sign up or sign in quickly.
Depending on “Sign Up” setting, new members can sign up your site with only four mouse clicks and sign in with a single click.
After you complete the module installation and API key setup for social providers such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, your new members can sign up quickly and easily using Social Connect.

Step 1: Click on Facebook icon (Figure 1)

2. How it gets all information in the first time login
With Social Connect module, almost all providers allow your site to get user profile information so your member don’t need to fill in the sign up form.
With some providers that do not allow getting user information, your members will need to fill in the sign up form but it does not take much time. 3. Difference between quick signup and standard signup mode
Some of our Clients are confused about the difference between these two modes and how to switch the mode in the admin.
Quick Sign up: all information will be retrieved from existing account, there is no more input (http://knowledgebase.younetco.com/2013/05/27/quick-sign-up-mode/)
Standard: users are asked to input few information such as email, gender and birthday

4. Second/next time login: With just a single click, your members can sign in to your website easily if they have logged in their social account already.
Besides members also are able to use many social accounts to sign in your website with the same email. Please refer to number 5 for more information.
5. How to manage many social accounts with the same email
Your members can manage their accounts at: Account> Settings> Account Linking: Figure 6

When your members use other social accounts with the same email to sign in, they need to verify it with below steps:

Step 2: check email and fill “verify code” in below form to sync your accounts (Figure 8)

Your site members can invite their friends when they are signing up (Figure 9)
